Consolidated Ditch Company Records (1859-1868)

Two local companies, organized to divert waters of the Fall River for Gilpin County miners, merged to form the Consolidated Ditch Company on July 21, 1859. A charter with 30 years exclusive rights was obtained from the Jefferson Territorial Government and the canal was completed on July 19, 1860. The ditch paid for itself in the first year. A New York syndicate later gained control. The collection contains minutes, Board of Directors and Stock Records, a journal and a ledger.
